DUBARE ELEPHANT CAMP
Dubare Elephant Training Camp, located 15 km from Kushalanagar, on the banks of the Cauvery river, is run by the Karnataka government-owned Jungle Lodges and Resorts Ltd. A visitor can spend hours simply watching and interacting with elephants, some of which have participated in the Mysore Dasara festivities.
Besides interacting with the elephants, tourists can engage in fishing, trekking, bird watching, elephant rides, or just nature walks.
Elephants are the main attraction at the camp and visitors can watch elephants being given scrub-baths. They can also engage in feeding the elephants with sugarcane, banana and coconuts.
During the monsoon between June and September, those seeking adventure and thrills can do river rafting or take coracle rides on the Cauvery.
Ten spacious cottages with modern amenities, set amidst lush greenery, are available for guests. A delectable array of authentic Coorg delicacies and North Indian food is served at the camp.
