Nanjamma Chinnappa – Chronicler of Coorg Culture
In this book, Bengaluru-based author and journalist, P.T. Bopanna, pays his tribute to renowned Kodagu (Coorg) researcher and author, Boverianda Nanjamma Chinnappa, who passed away in March, 2024.
Nanjamma and her husband, Chinnappa, worked as a team on their various projects. The Chinnappas were closely associated with Bopanna’s book and website projects for over 15 years.
The Chinnappas had gone through Bopanna’s nine books, including his last book ‘Round And About With P.T. Bopanna’, published in 2022. They had checked Bopanna’s manuscripts for grammatical and factual errors and offered suggestions for improving the content.
The couple had contributed articles for his websites, some of which have been featured in this book. They had written the foreword for Bopanna’s bestselling book ‘Are Kodavas (Coorgs) Hindus?’.
The highlight of this book is the interview of Nanjamma by Dr Nervanda Veena Poonacha, eminent sociologist and women’s studies scholar. In the interview, Nanjamma has spoken about her life journey.
